Microsoft has released a new compatibility pack for SMS 2003 SP3 that’s adds Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 R2 as supported clients. However since main stream support for SMS 2003 has already ended I would highly recommend that you start migrating to Configuration Manager 2007 SP2 ASAP, and only use this update as a "workaround" until you everything migrated. If you want to migrate settings and data when migration from Windows XP or Windows Vista to Windows 7, you need to use the User State Migration Toolkit 4.0 (USMT). USMT is a free download that is part of the Windows Automated Installation Kit (Windows AIK or WAIK) for Windows 7. Windows AIK for Windows 7 is included in Configuration Manager 2007 SP2 RC, so if you’ve installed Service Pack 2, you don’t need to download and install Windows AIK. Windows Server 2008 R2 and Windows 7 comes with allot of new great features. One of them is BranchCache that is designed to reduce WAN link utilization and improve application responsiveness for branch office workers who access content from servers in remote locations.
