Pingback: SCCM 2012: How does Automatic Client Upgrade work? » RONNIPEDERSEN.COM
Hi Ronni,
Great website!
I need your advice on something.I am planning to upgrade my prod infra from SCCM 2012RTM to SP1 and then to R2. Since these cumulative updates are hotfixes and MS doesnt recommend to install them unless we specifically have problems fixed by these CUs,I am not sure if I install CU3 after R2. What do you think?
I would always install the latest CU. CU’s also comes with great PowerShell Updates.
Where do you read that Microsoft don’t recommend installing CU’s?
Appreciate your response to my question. Following is the excerpt from CU3 description for SCCM 2012 R2.Here is the URL- http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2994331
“A supported update is available from Microsoft Support. However, this update is intended to correct only the problems that are described in this article. Apply this update only to systems that are experiencing the problems described in this article. This update might receive additional testing. Therefore, if you are not severely affected by these problems, we recommend that you wait for the next service pack that contains this update”
Thanks for keeping this up to date. For clarity you may want to specify that version 5.00.8239.1000 is both “ConfigMgr 2012 R2 SP1” and “ConfigMgr 2012 SP2”

Can 1703 be installed directly on 1602 or do we have to install 106,1610 before Upgrade to 1703
You can go directly to 1702.
