December 6, 2010

The snow is still falling around our little country, and x-mas is getting closer. Each day in December, you can test your knowledge in a daily quiz for Danish IT Professionals, and I’ve got the honor to host today’s question.

If you think you know the answer, send it to ronni.pedersen@eg.dk, after Bjarne Dollerup has announced the question on his Blog or on Twitter (@ bdollerup).

The quiz does not start until it has been publicly announced by Bjarne, so no need to start sending mails until it’s been announced…

The first to send the correct answer will win one of the great prizes sponsored by Microsoft TechNet Denmark, so don’t forget to let us know how to get in touch with you, and where we should send the prize if you are todays winner…

Today’s question is about BitLocker, and most IT Professionals it should be able to answer this question, or find the answer by searching Microsoft TechNet.

The Question:

In Windows 7 BitLocker supports two levels of cipher strength for BitLocker: 128-bit and 256-bit. Both use the Advanced Encryption Standard (AES) to perform encryption. In addition, BitLocker supports a Diffuser algorithm to help protect against ciphertext manipulation attacks.

What is the default encryption when you enable BitLocker in Windows 7?

Update: We have a winner….

Merry X-Mas…
